Biography

Sam Najafi

Working as a successful freelance property writer, Najafi learned his trade at the University of Brighton, where he studied English Literature and Creative Writing, leaving the institution with a BA Honours degree.

Following his graduation Najafi found work as a freelance writer, and he often undertakes several contracts at once – writing about topics such as architecture, DIY and eco homes. Najafi’s writing work can be completed from any location in the world, and this freelance, remote role enables Najafi to continue with his passion for travel and exploration.

Whilst pursuing both his career and his love of travel, Najafi has built up a reputation as a skilled and professional writer. His two passions are intertwined as he also enjoys travel writing, where he documents each country and city that he visits through his writing. Having visited many different countries, Najafi loves to explore different cultures, learning about their local language, geography, history and food.

South America is somewhere that Najafi is particularly fond of, as he has spent a great deal of time exploring in this region. He loves South American food and enjoys trying local delicacies and recipes when travelling in another country. The Far East is another of Najafi’s favourite cultures, as he has explored many different countries in the region including Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Immersing himself in each culture, Najafi develops a deep connection with each country that he visits, greatly enriching his understanding of the world and his travel writing.

Having grown up on the coast, Najafi spent a lot of time learning to surf as a child. He still enjoys water sports, regularly surfing in the sea whether he is in England or abroad. Stand-up paddle boarding has become another of his favourite sports, drawing on his skill as a surfer but offering a very different experience and a range of health benefits.

Najafi also has an interest in martial arts. He has recently taken up capoeira, a traditional Afro-Brazilian martial art. Capoeira is influenced by traditional martial arts; however, it also includes a range of other influences such as music, dance and acrobatics. With an emphasis on flowing movements and more complex manoeuvres, capoeira departs from more traditional martial arts, which focus on static, fixed stances.
